Internet
D-Link DSL 320T and Windows Vista
Written by Webmaster

Hard time for those who own a D-Link DSL 320T ADSL Modem and have to configure it on Windows Vista... I happens that, when you try to access the configuration page at the local address 192.168.1.1 this doesn't seem to turn up at all. What to do next? You can't make do without it...

Fortunately enough, we can find some help out there. The cause appears to be a wrong communication management with the DNS server. To overcome the problem you need to change some default settings.

clicking on Connect to from the start menu you will reach the configuration panel where you will see a computer connected to a planet through the ISP. Clicking on Show status you get into another panel. Then, Properties e IP protocol version 4 to get to the network settings

  • set 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 as primary and secondary DNS (OpenDNS);
  • select Obtain IP address automatically if it not already selected then click on Advanced;
  • in the Gateway tab add 192.168.1.1 (the modem address) and set Automatic Metrics;
  • in the next sheet it's advisable to disable the following options: LMHOSTS and default NetBIOS.

That's all. Now it is possible to configure the modem. This tech tip comes from an Internet search in a forum, if it turned to be useful for you, don't thank me but the original author.
